Not the only interpretation of pencil drawings, and greys but the only images that I have access to. I included the Marcel Marois tapestry as it is a very different technique and pure grey. He uses two and somtimes three strands of wool in two or three different colours or shades with each strand laid down carefully in the same shed in a particular order, rather than mixed threads that are generally woven as the become naturally twisted. This creates a very structured pattern of threads rather than the somewhat tweedy effect that is usually produced with mixed threads if the hue values are not closely related.
In Kay Lawrences tapestries the values are generally closely related, with only small areas of mixed thread in stronger contrasted values givng a more visually textured look for contrast.
